Amita Prasad
Amita Prasad is a teacher and author who has played pivotal roles additionally as teacher-educator, mentor, advisor to government bodies and committees. A gold-medallist in Modern History from Jadavpur University, she found her passion in school teaching. She has helped innumerable students inculcate a love of learning in general and History in particular. Prasad has also been involved in mentoring students in all aspects of school life – scholastic and co-scholastic. As Vice Principal of Modern High School for Girls, she played a significant role in school administration with regard to curriculum development, introduction of improved teaching – learning practices and modern assessment methodology. She has also been closely involved with facilitating the planning and implementation of school programmes and enrichment activities. She was appointed Dean, Research and Development at The Heritage School, Kolkata. At present she is Director, Indus Valley World School, Kolkata. She is the co-author of three series of Historyand Civics text books for Classes 3 to 8 published by Oxford University Press. She is an advisor to Ektara, an NGO that provides education to under-privileged children in Topsia and also a member of the Governing Body of Manovikas Kendra, a pioneering institution that works for differently abled children.
